TECH NEWS - Microsoft releases Windows 10 builds 17735 and 18214 - here's what's new

It's been a busy week for Windows Insiders. just two days past, Microsoft released Windows 10 build 17733 to the fast ring, finalizing the dark mode File explorer. Today, the firm is releasing build 17735 for fast ring testers, along with 18214 for Skip Ahead Insiders.

Build 17735 is the latest Redstone five preview, and it does not have any new features. this is a good thing, as we're now about a month away from it being finalized. this is the point where Microsoft should be working on refinements and fixes, and aiming new features at the Skip Ahead ring.

Build 18214 is a preview of the next feature update for Windows 10, which is codenamed 19H1 and isn't due out until next spring. this does not contain much in the way of new features, but there are a couple of things, which have already been offered to Redstone five testers last week. Here's the full changelog:

Your Phone app is now LIVE!

Android phone users, check it out and keep the feedback coming. Build 17723+ is highly recommended for the best experience. Your Phone app is also live for Insiders who are in Skip Ahead running 19H1 builds. with your Phone app, you get instant access to your Android’s most recent photos on your computer. Drag and drop that photo from your phone onto your computer. Copy, edit, or ink on that photo, right from your computer. Android 7.0+ is compatible with your Phone app. For PCs tied to the China region, Your Phone app services will be enabled in the future.

For iPhone users, Your Phone app helps you to link your phone to your computer. Surf the web on your phone, then send the webpage instantly to your computer to pick up where you left off to continue what you’re doing–read, watch, or browse with all the benefits of a bigger screen. With a linked phone, continuing on your computer is one share away.

Improved security on Microsoft Edge browsers by guaranteeing HTTP/2 preferred cypher suites
Improved performance on Windows 10 thanks to cubic, the new default TCP congestion provider

For a full write-up detailing this improvement, please see our announcement A faster, Safer internet.

The Windows insider team said little else in either of the blog posts. Indeed, there's very little that is actually new here. If you're testing Redstone 5 builds, these things should start to get more and more stable now, so while fast ring builds seem to be coming twice a week now, you can also expect more frequent Slow ring builds.
